Eddie Murphy Would Do Shrek 5 Or A Donkey Spin-Off Movie ‘In Two Seconds’

Eddie Murphy has found an unbelievable amount of success with Donkey. After the first film was such a hit, Murphy (along with co-stars Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz) was paid around $10 million to come back and voice the character for a sequel, and the money would only go up from there. He also holds the distinction of being the only actor nominated for a BAFTA for a voiceover performance for his work in the first film. Even when his stardom as an on-camera talent was waning, he could always count on Donkey. So, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Murphy is ready for more, as he recently said to Etalk.

“If they ever came with another ‘Shrek’ I’d do it in two seconds, I love Donkey. They did Puss in Boots movies, I was like, ‘They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots.’ [Laughs] I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t as funny as Donkey. [Laughs] No I really would, I would do a Donkey movie, I would do another ‘Shrek’ in two seconds.”

Of course, the decision to bring back Donkey is ultimately up to the folks at DreamWorks Animation and not Murphy himself. “If y’all wanna do it, just call me. I am ready, I am sitting and ready to do Donkey,” he told DreamWorks (via Etalk).

There have been plenty of rumors swirling about that a “Shrek 5” would be underway soon with the original cast, but nothing has been officially confirmed or announced. Based on the box office numbers for “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” DreamWorks might just take Murphy up on that idea for a Donkey spin-off.
