In addition to Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, “Shrinking” also stars Jessica Williams (“Entergalactic,” “2 Dope Queens”), Christa Miller (“Scrubs,” “Cougar Town”), Luke Tennie (“Deadly Class,” “Players”), Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty,” “Single All The Way”), and Lukita Maxwell (“Generation,” “Speechless”). Bill Lawrence and Segel serve as executive producers, in addition to “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein, who co-created the series with the duo. Neil Goldman, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, James Ponsoldt, and Randall Keenan Winston also serve as executive producers.
The first episode was written by Lawrence, Segel, and Goldstein, with Ponsoldt directing. While “Shrinking” will certainly be walking an ethical line by showcasing a therapist who bucks the required rules and training while in session with patients, “Scrubs” has been declared the most accurate medical show in television history, so it’s safe to assume the creative team did their necessary homework. Segel was most recently seen inĀ “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” but this is his first series in a starring role since the limited series, “Dispatches from Elsewhere.” Based on the trailer, “Shrinking” looks like a show that could enjoy a long life on screen.
“Shrinking” debuts on Apple TV+ starting January 27, 2023.
