Netflix To Release Glass Onion With Commentary By Rian Johnson

Netflix hasn’t been completely opposed to the idea of commentary tracks in the past, but the fact the film is being made available with the track right on the streamer’s homepage is a cause for celebration. During the early seasons of “House of Cards,” Netflix would often include commentary tracks with the episodes, but that additional feature went away shortly after. Otherwise, commentary tracks have typically come in the form of the creative team releasing podcasts. One of the most prominent examples was “The Commentary Cast,” which was a side project of “I Am Mother” director Grant Sputore with no official connection to Netflix.

The fact Netflix seems to be making a big event of the added track, including the new poster art (as seen in the tweet above), I can’t help but feel optimistic that this could be a sign of the positive changes coming to the streamer. After how angry subscribers have been regarding the end of password sharing, this could very well be the thing that keeps folks from canceling their accounts.

“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” with commentary from Rian Johnson will be on Netflix starting February 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. PT.
