This trailer leans heavy on the motion and the scope, teasing what seems to be some type of alien invasion (or is it one thing else?) on Earth and loads of phaser battles and sci-fi derring-do. But there’s certainly extra to this season than that, since “Strange New Worlds” constructed an ocean of goodwill on its potential to shift genres and tones, capturing each aspect of the “Star Trek” expertise. Dramatic conflict episodes have been adopted by outrageous comedy hours, fantastical tales peppered with silliness gave strategy to shifting tragedy, and the Gorn offered the sequence with a villain taking part in straight out of the “Alien” playbook. Come for the large spaceship fights, keep as a result of this forged and this crew of writers perceive “Trek” like nobody else.
And, after all, we stay intensely curious how the “Lower Decks” characters, who stay a few century past the characters of “Strange New Worlds,” find yourself on the Enterprise. Naturally, the official synopsis affords no clues:
In season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, below the command of Captain Christopher Pike, confronts more and more harmful stakes, explores uncharted territories and encounters new life and civilizations. The crew may even embark on private journeys that may proceed to check their resolve and redefine their destinies. Facing buddies and enemies each new and acquainted, their adventures will unfold in stunning methods by no means seen earlier than on any Star Trek sequence.
The 10-episode second season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” begins streaming on Paramount+ beginning June 15, 2023.
