Going into election evening, issues are already fairly shaky for Tom. His protector is lifeless, his marriage is on the outs, and his job is being offered off to a Swede who’s banging his spouse. He is already drained from combating with Shiv since she spent the evening telling all of America’s necessary political leaders that he’ll be “s***-canned” when the corporate is offered.
“He’s terrified about making a c***-up of the election,” Matthew Macfadyen mentioned of his character on the Succession Podcast. “He wants to do a good job with the election because he’s scared of losing his job and he wants to do well.” To put it plainly, Tom shouldn’t be in a superb place and finds himself ill-prepared to deal with such a mountainous day. “At this point, he’s pretty precarious, I’d say,” the actor admitted. “Yeah, he’s treading water, his heart rate’s racing, and he’s sinking a little bit.”
When Tom will get to work he shortly learns he’s sporting the mistaken footwear and that Lukas Matsson is sleeping with Shiv. That’s when he begins doing cocaine — covertly, behind a whiteboard, in small bumps. Then his soon-to-be ex-wife swings by to drop the being pregnant bomb on him. Either he is nonetheless very indignant after discovering that she and Matsson have been having an affair, or he is too keyed as much as even course of the information. And then, as if issues weren’t unhealthy sufficient, the touchscreen is malfunctioning.
That’s when one thing breaks inside Tom — and a person’s personal private downward spiral brings a nation to its knees.
