Visions Season 2 Arrives In May With Nine New Animated Shorts From Aardman And More

Did you ever think we’d get an animated “Star Wars” announcement to rival that of the collaboration between Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli? As if to prove the truth of Yoda’s words that, “Always in motion is the future,” today brings the news that “Star Wars: Visions” will be recruiting a veritable murderer’s row of talent for the second season of the acclaimed animated series. Where season 1 was heavily indebted to Japanese inspirations and visuals, volume 2 will take on a much more multicultural flavor.

The various studios and shorts featured in season 2 include El Guiri with a short titled “Sith” by Rodrigo Blaas (Spain), Cartoon Saloon’s “Screecher’s Reach” by director Paul Young (Ireland), Punkrobot’s “In the Stars” by Gabriel Osorio (Chile), Aardman’s “I Am Your Mother” by Magdalena Osinska (United Kingdom), Studio Mir’s “Journey to the Dark Head” by Hyeong Geun Park (South Korea), Studio La Cachette’s “The Spy Dancer” by Julien Chheng (France), 88 Pictures’ “The Bandits of Golak” by Ishan Shukla (India), D’art Shtajio’s “The Pit” by co-directors LeAndre Thomas and Justin Ridge (Japan, in collaboration with Lucasfilm), and Triggerfish’s “Aau’s Song” by writer/directors Nadia Darries and Daniel Clarke (South Africa).

If season 2 turns out to be even half as brilliant as the debut season was, then we’re all in for a truly special treat. Once again, “Star Wars: Visions” returns to Disney+ on May 4, 2023.
